History of Marian Sainyam Charitable Trust
Mariayn Sainyam started as a prayer group in 1999. Marian Sainyam started as a prayer group under Mannarappara Church in Kuruppanthara, Kerala. The prayer group used to assemble at Fathima Matha Chappel, in Majoor South. This group of youth used to hold prayer meeting at 6:.30 PM every day in the chapel. In the early days, Francis, Siju, Liju, Siby Thondikkudilil, Siby Elambassery, Dr. Felix Avarachan, Saji Thondithalakkal, were members of the group. Taking this group forward, the group built a small building and prayers were conducted in the new building since then.
It was in this building the operations of the charitable trust started.
From the spirit of prayers and service to the needy, seven members from the prayer group started a charitable trust named Immaculate Charitable Trust. Sijumon K. P was the founder of the trust and Francis M. P was the managing trustee. Other trustees were Lijumon, Joboyi, Joy Maman, Thambichayan and Kiran. In 2002 August, three suffering people were brought to the house of Sijumon and Lijumon and that was the beginning of this charitable trust as known today. In August 2005, a new building was constructed and the inmates were shifted to the new building. The name of the trust was also changed to Marian Sainyam Charitable Trust with five people as trustees.
Inauguration of Marian Sainyam Charitable Trust building on August 15, 2002.
Sijumon KP was the Managing Trustee and Lijumon KP was the secretary of the trust during 2005-2010. During that period, a kitchen and a dining hall were constructed for the inmates, with the grace of God. Sijumon worked hard to find sponsors for this work and was monitoring the construction works continuously. In 2010, Sijumon entrusted Lijumon KP the responsibilities of the trust, as he had to relocate as his employer demanded it.
In the year 2011, the trust got recognition from the Kerala State Government. At present, there are 25 inmates in the center managed by the trust. All of the inmates are mentally challenged. The day to day expenses of the trust are met from the contributions of the local people. We express our gratitude to all those who help us with their prayers and donations. We are a recognised Charitable Trust in India. The certificate copy is attached.
